Julia McDevitt: Planner of the Year!

Julia McDevitt, Acting Sr. Director with UNB’s Conference Services, won the Planner of the Year award at the Meeting Planner’s International (MPI), Atlantic Chapter awards gala, Tuesday, June 13 in Halifax, NS.

Julia was selected as Planner of the Year by her peers and colleagues from the Atlantic meetings and events industry. She was one of three finalists considered for the honour handed out at the Awards Gala, hosted by Mount St. Vincent University. Jenn Cotterill with ZedEvents and Keltie Daigle, Certified Metting Planner with the Halifax Marriot Harbourfront were the other finalists in this category.

Winning this award is a huge honour for Julia, Conference Services and UNB. Julia is the first University Conference Services professional and meeting planner to win this prestigious industry award. University Conference Services units are sometimes plagued with the stereotype that they are difficult to work with and can’t provide the same product or level of service as hotels or convention centres. Julia works hard every day to ensure UNB defies these stereotypes; she is dedicated to providing clients with the highest level of service and always ensures they have a great experience meeting and celebrating at UNB.

UNB’s Wu Conference Centre earned the Supplier of the Year Award at this same MPI event last year. This was another first for the industry, with a University conference centre taking home the award.

UNB is known in the industry to rival any hotel or convention centre with its great customer service, first-class dedicated meeting facility, the Wu Conference Centre, and enthusiastic staff. It is because of Julia and her team that UNB is a leader in the Collegiate Conference Services industry.

Help us in congratulating Julia for this esteemed honour!
