UNB Conference Services Acting Senior Director awarded CMP designation

Julia McDevitt, Acting Senior Director of UNB Conference Services was recently awarded her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation from the Events Industry Council (EIC).

The EIC certifies individuals through an internationally recognized certification program that evaluates the competency of meeting professionals. With more than 11,000 meeting professionals in 55 countries around the globe holding the CMP designation, it represents the standard of excellence in today’s meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry.

In order to be eligible for this designation, 25 Continuing Education Units (approximately 250 hours) of workshops, sessions, online readings and webinars must be completed. Topics such as: event technology, cybersecurity, team leadership and more are covered by industry-leading experts.

After working towards her CMP for the last three years, McDevitt successfully wrote her CMP examination this past weekend in Bangor, ME. We asked her to share what this professional accomplishment will mean for UNB Conference Services.

“The CMP designation is a highly respected designation in the meetings and events industry. Having someone on our team who carries this designation is just another way that we will continue to offer our already high level of service. The designation also lends credibility to the work we do in Conference Services. Though we are working to change the mindset around meeting and staying on University Campuses there is still a lot of work to be done and having this designation shows that we, as a University, are committed to changing this mindset.”

Join us in congratulating Julia on this exciting new accomplishment!
